The Lola Quartet by Emily St John Mandel

‘Percolates with suspense’ - The New York Times.

Full of shocking twists and secrets, The Lola Quartet asks the universal question: how far would you go for someone you love? From Emily St. John Mandel, the author of Station Eleven.

When Gavin discovers the existence of a young girl from his hometown who looks uncannily like him - and shares the surname of his high-school girlfriend, Anna - he is propelled back into the past. Could this girl be his daughter? But there are other secrets from the past that remain unanswered. Gavin was part of a jazz group known as ‘The Lola Quartet’, and Anna disappeared on the night of their last concert together.

As Gavin goes deeper to seek answers from those he left behind, he will uncover truths far darker than he ever imagined.

‘Elegant and hypnotic . . . Mandel brilliantly modulates the heightening suspense in a novel that remains, above all, an elegy for lost innocence’ - The Washington Post
